Vitrum Laugaricio Glass Centre of Competence is the joint research laboratory of:

  • Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín,
  • Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and
  • Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.

The mission of the centre is to conduct research and development of non-metals, mainly glass and ceramics. The research covers the study between composition, structure and properties of these materials. Moreover, the research and development activities of the centre include glass and ceramic composite processing for applications in engineering, automobile, defence and electrical engineering industries. The centre offers Master’s Degree study in Inorganic Material and Glass Chemistry and Technology and doctoral study program in Inorganic Technologies and Non-metallic Materials. Vitrum Laugaricio encompasses the Centre of Excellence for Ceramics, Glass and Silicate Materials funded from the EU structural funds, Operational Program Research and Development.
